wouldn't it be cool if when a user logged on it showed if publics were on or off?

(I figure there's no reason to say with publics on)

tuns of people say hi to public off people. just a thought.
maybe this could be an options in the quicknote filters to turn on and off too.

But you can look at the log in list to see if messages are on or off. I realize that takes an extra step, but still it's a lot easier to tell now than it used to be.

true, and i have it set to show in the combo box too.

display the status after the custem log in.
